GEORGIAN INSPIRED DEVELOPMENT ENHANCED WITH JELD-WEN WINDOWS AND DOORS
Residents of the exciting new Mount Wise development in Plymouth will benefit from homes with a Georgian-inspired appearance, yet with all the advantages of modern thermal performance, thanks to timber windows and patio doorsets supplied by JELD-WEN.
Leadbitter Group, the contractor which is building the homes on behalf of the developer, specified JELD-WEN’s Vertical Sliding Sash windows from JELD-WEN for the houses and apartments and also Clifton double patio doorsets.

The Clifton doorsets are the ideal complement to the properties, letting lots of natural light filter through and creating a light and airy living space for residents. All windows and doorsets supplied to this development were to a bespoke specification, demonstrating our technical and production capabilities.”
He added: “It was also important that they could meet modern thermal performance requirements, which enhance the development’s green credentials and help residents save on their energy bills.”
JELD-WEN’s windows and patio doors are being supplied to the 119 dwellings in the development’s first phase, with 469 residences planned in total across four phases. The project consists of a combination of luxury two, three and four bedroom houses and one and two bedroom apartments.
JELD-WEN designed a bespoke solution for the AOV (automatic opening vents) and MOE (means of escape) for first floor windows, which included automatic opening vents and means of escape for first floor windows to meet with fire safety requirements. The affordable homes within the scheme required windows to meet Secured by Design requirements, which is the enhanced security specification approved by ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers). JELD-WEN UK Ltd is one of the only manufacturers able to meet this stringent specification on vertical sliding sash frames.
Not only do these windows offer stunning aesthetics and meet latest Part L requirements, they are also extremely simple to maintain due to their innovative easy clean mechanism, which enables the glass to be cleaned from the inside.
The windows were required to achieve a U value of 1.4 W/m2K and the Clifton doorsets a U value of 1.6 W/m2K to meet Part L regulations and offer a high level of energy efficiency. A very popular range, the Clifton softwood doorset is manufactured from engineered knot-free timber and comes with the option of triple glazing and gas filling to further enhance thermal performance. Both the windows and patio doors were supplied in fully finished white by JELD-WEN, further enhancing their performance and prolonging their lifespan.
